How to Play Blackjack in a Casino
Want to know how to play blackjack? Blackjack, alternatively known as twenty-one, can be played with 1, 2, 4, 6 or 8 decks of cards. The main object of the game is to accumulate cards with total points as close to the number twenty one, without going over twenty one. You lose automatically when your points total to more than twenty one. Jacks, Queens and Kings are worth ten points. Aces are worth one or eleven, whichever is preferable. Number cards are represented by their respective number.
There are two types of Blackjack: the shoe game and the hand held game. Game rules are basically the same, except that in a shoe game, players are not allowed to touch their cards, and the cards are dealt face up. In hand held games, players are allowed to pick up their cards, and cards are dealt face down. Shoe games also use a special card box used to shuffle and dispense the cards.
In casinos, a blackjack table seats six players. Shoe games are usually played in casinos, and six or eight decks are used and shuffled by the dealer, to be placed in the 'shoe'. Before the cards are given, players will place a wager. Dealer gives gets one card facing up, the other facing down. The player will then choose either to stay, or to ask for another card and try to bring the points as close to 21. Card players would not have to wait for the dealer's turn. When all players are done, dealer flips over the down card. By ruling, points 16 below the dealer must draw, while points 17 up the dealer must stay. If a House tie takes place, it is a push and no one wins.
If the player gets a total of 21 points with his first two 2 cards, the player wins automatically. This is called 'Blackjack', wherein he gets an Ace and a 10 or face. If the players have acquired higher count than the dealer's, they get the equal amount they wagered on. Players with lower count lose. If the dealer busts, the remaining players win the bet.
Other betting options are the following:
1. Insurance is when the side bet is more than half the initial bet against the dealer. If the dealer makes a blackjack with 10 face down, insurance pays at 2 - 1 odds. However, if dealer does not, he loses.
2. Surrender is when you give up your hand, which means you only lose half the bet.
3. Even Money is wherein you cash in your bet immediately when you are dealt with a natural blackjack and the dealer's card facing up is an Ace.
4. Double down is where you double your initial bet following the two card deal, most recommended if the player is in a strong position.
